Taking Care Of Your Lawn

For any homeowner, you know additions to your home continue far from just the inside of your property. The outside appearance of your home is the first thing that visitors will notice, so taking time to take care of the outside of your home is just as important. The grass always appears to be greener on the other side, but here are a few ways to keep your grass looking its best.

  • Watering your grass is important but it is even more important that you use the right amount. Too much can promote disease, and too little can cause drought. The time of day when you water your grass is important too. It’s best if you do not do it in the evening or overnight as it can promote fungus and disease.
  • Adding nutrients back to the soil helps the grass and replenishes damage done. Mulching the clippings and leaving them on the grass will not promote thatch; instead it will help revive your grass.
  • Keep your mower blades sharp so that it cuts the grass and not rip as dull blades tend to do.
  • Do not cut your grass too short, as the hot sun can burn the grass more easily. A good length is between 3-4 inches long.
  • Taking too much of the grass of can cause stress; a good rule of thumb is to avoid taking off more than 1/3 of the blade.

With a very little maintenance you can have your lawn looking it’s best in no time.
